Took Jolene the Sunbird for a cruise tonight before putting her back in the garage for the week. She usually comes home on the weekends and stays in my friend’s four car garage at his place during the week. 56,400-something miles now.

Went to the cemetery to see my mom and do some thinking/praying. Life and work have been stressing me lately and my GAD (Generalized Anxiety Disorder) and depression don’t help.

Took the backroads home and stopped for some pictures.

It’s amazing how many of these I’ve noticed on the road since you bought yours, mostly convertibles. I have a faint recollection from high school that these had an optional turbo.   Maybe that's a fever dream...

My older sister has only had 4 cars, all GM, and this was one of them. Hers was that teal color that GM put on everything in the 90s. She hung onto that car way longer than anyone should.

Also, two of her cars were mine first. She had my Celebrity before the Sunbird, and replaced the Sunbird with my Alero. She’s currently driving a G6 hardtop convertible. She's considering a new car and I told her she should look at a Buick Cascada to keep the pattern alive.

The 2.0 Turbo was the optional engine through 1991. After that, the 3.1 V6 became the top-of-the-line motor. 140 HP isn’t much by today’s standards but it’s decent for a car this small and light. Of course, mine just has the 96 horsepower Opel-sourced N/A 2.0.

My first car had that 3.1l v6.  It was plenty of fun for a 16 yr old.

My brother’s first car was a Celebrity. One time I was riding in the back and he slammed on the brakes for a cat. The seatbelt decided not to lock and I ended up squeezed into the footwell.

I also have a strong memory of deciding that a Celebrty EuroSport was going to be my first car. But that was before I saw Fast and Furious and my eyes were opened to the world of Japanese cars.
